Here are the top three stories today in Roanoke:
- Frank Shushok Jr. has been named the 12th president of Roanoke College. He will be appointed by the Roanoke College Board of Trustees after Michael C. Maxey retires in July. Shushok is currently the vice president for student affairs at Virginia Tech. (The Roanoke Star)
- The Roanoke Police Department is investigating a Monday shooting that left two people hurt. The incident occurred in the 800 block of Hunt Avenue NW. The two victims were taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries. (WSLS 10)
- Roanoke-based firm Brian Wishneff & Associates is attempting to turn the Professional Building, located at 1030 Quarrier Street in Charleston, West Virginia, into residential housing. The group has asked the Kanawha County Commission to freeze the property valuation for the next 10 years as part of a Pilot program. The group is reportedly prepared to invest $5.5 million into the property. (Charleston Gazette-Mail)
