Rise and shine, Roanoke! Let's get this day started. Here's everything going on around town today.

First, today's weather:

Mostly sunny and colder. High: 36 Low: 17.

Here are the top three stories today in Roanoke:

  1. A Roanoke puppy will be featured in the upcoming Puppy Bowl next month. Odin, a sweet rescue dog, will be suiting up for Team Ruff on Feb. 13. Odin was adopted from the Big Fluffy Dog Rescue in Nashville, Tennessee, and is the only dog from his rescue to be represented in the big game. (WSLS 10)
  2. A man was hospitalized after a shooting outside of a home in Roanoke on Tuesday morning. At around 6:00 a.m., police responded to a call and found an adult male with a serious gunshot wound in the 2300 block of Highland Farm Rd. NW. The victim was taken by the Roanoke Fire-EMS to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment. So far, no suspects have been located and no arrests have been made. (WDBJ7)
  3. A Roanoke dog that was left out in freezing temperatures is now recovering in a foster home. Scout was brought in by an animal control agency and is getting healthier by the day. According to the staff at Angels of Assisi in Roanoke, animal neglect cases such as this have become more common, and they want to remind pet owners that a state law from 2020 makes it illegal to tether dogs outside during extreme weather. (WSLS 10)
