🌱 RWF Gives $340K To Local Nonprofits + 2nd Roanoke Train Coming

Here are the top stories in Roanoke today:
- As part of an annual tradition, the Roanoke Women's Foundation (RWF) awarded six local nonprofits a grand total of $340,000 in grants. RWF has given over $4 million in grant money in its history, doing so to help worthy organizations continue their work in the community. This year's recipients were New Horizons Healthcare, Renovation Alliance, Kids Soar of Roanoke, Children's Assistive Technology, Adult Care Center of Roanoke Valley, and Mill Mountain Theatre. - Amtrak and Norfolk Southern are inching closer to a final deal to bring a second Amtrak train to Roanoke. A second train is scheduled to chug through Roanoke by spring of 2022, bringing an additional 80,000 net new rides. To ease operations in Roanoke, the plan is to work with Norfolk Southern and build a bypass to divert freight traffic; however, the second train could arrive before the infrastructure changes are completed.
