Here are the top three stories today in Roanoke:

  1. The Salvation Army of Roanoke celebrated National Salvation Army Week this week. The organization recognized the community work that its Family Thrift Store provides. Its mascot, "Sally the Shield," was onsite, thanking the community for its generous donations that allow the store to help those in need throughout the year. (WSLS 10)
  2. Southwest Virginia Ballet is performing TIES at Elmwood Park today. The performance has been altered to accommodate the outside venue. Tickets can be purchased for the performance that begins at 2:00 p.m. at the following link. (WFIR News Talk Radio)
  3. Roanoke Valley remembers its fallen heroes during its annual Roanoke Valley Law Enforcement Memorial Service. The service remembered Officer Bonnie Jones, Officer Michael Chandler, Officer John Painter, Safety Officer J.J. Jefferson, and Officer Caleb Ogilvie. The service also recognized the families of the fallen officers. (WSLS 10)
