🌱 School District's Job Fair + Train Derailment In Downtown Roanoke

Here are the top three stories today in Roanoke:

  1. Roanoke City Public Schools will be hosting a job fair on May 23. The event will connect employers with students searching for summer employment — and possibly more. Interviews will be conducted on-site and students are encouraged to dress professionally. More than 50 companies have registered with the district to attend the job fair. (WDBJ)
  2. Roanoke College's Women's lacrosse team will be competing in the 2022 NCAA DIII Women's Lacrosse National Championship tournament this Saturday. The team will be going into the tournament with a 15-4 record during the regular season. The teams that Roanoke College lost to will be in the tournament as well. (WFIR News Talk Radio)
  3. A train derailed in downtown Roanoke. Albemarle Ave, Bullitt Ave, Tazewell Ave, Campbell Ave, and Norfolk Ave were closed while the incident was being managed by the railroad crews. The Roanoke Police Department reports that no major injuries or damage have been reported. (ABC 13 News)
