Here are the top three stories today in Roanoke:

  1. May 14 will be the 8th Annual Artisan Saturday event hosted by Roanoke County's Explore Park. The event will be from 10:00 a.m. through 3:00 p.m. with free admission. Participants will be able to enjoy artisan demonstrations, live music, and unique experiences. The event is meant to celebrate the artistic creativity in Roanoke. (The Roanoke Star)
  2. The Salvation Army of Roanoke's domestic violence shelter is asking for the community's help in finding employees. Turning Point, the organization's shelter, is facing a staffing shortage. The shelter is making the schedule work because what it does is necessary for the community but the staffing problem will need to be addressed eventually.   3. The Open Studios Tour of Roanoke returns to the city once again. This popular tradition allows the community to experience the region's creative spaces through a self-guided driving tour. The tour will feature more than 20 different artists across five different locations scattered throughout the city.
