Here are the top three stories today in Roanoke:
- A woman has been hospitalized at Carilion Memorial Hospital after being stabbed near Valley View Mall on Thursday. The incident occurred in the 4800 block of Valley View Boulevard NW. Employees of the store were able to detain the stabbing suspect, Josue Acosta, in the parking lot until police were able to arrive at the scene. (WSLS 10)
- KC and the Sunshine Band will be performing in Roanoke. The famous band from the 1970s will be playing at Elmwood Park as a part of the Bud Light Vinyl Vault Concert Series. The performance will be on Jun. 4, 2022. (WFIR News Talk Radio)
- Roanoke Academy student unveiled their sea turtle sculpture at Mill Mountain Zoo on Wednesday. The sculpture is entirely made out of plastic to bring awareness to the Roanoke River and nearby waterways' cleaning efforts. The sculpture was made possible through a partnership between RCPS, Clean Valley Council, and Mill Mountain Zoo. (WDBJ)
