Tysons Senior Living High Rise To Begin Construction In 2020
The Mather will be the first high rise continuing care facility in Tysons.

TYSONS, VA — The Mather, the first continuing care high rise community in Tysons, is expected to begin construction in 2020. Site work will likely kick off over the summer, and the first phase could open in 2023. It will be located at 7929 Westpark Drive.
The Mather looks to fill a void of continuing care in Tysons as a senior living community for people 62 and up. According to a previous news release from Fairfax County, it will offer independent living, assisted living, memory support units, skilled nursing beds and medical care. It will be operated by Mather, a not-for-profit organization focused on improving lives of older adults.
Apartments will range from 850 square feet to over 3,000 square feet and are expected to start at the 2023 price of $660,000. Units will include smart home technology such as lighting, solar shades and thermostat as well as a home automation hub that can be integrated with smartphones, tablets, and home computer systems. Various community amenities will be available to residents, including a fitness center and day spa, indoor pool, movie theater and more.

"The area offers an amazing array of restaurants, luxury shopping and outdoor activities right at residents’ doorsteps, so they will be smack dab in the middle of it all," said Mary Leary, president and CEO of Mather. "We’re also within walking distance of rail service and public transportation that makes other world-class entertainment and cultural experiences just a Metro-ride away."
The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors approved the facility in June. Detailed interior design plans are being developed, and site design and permitting will be ongoing. The Mather has pre-sold 50 percent of its phase 1 residences, according to a news release from Mather.
