2021 Fatal Shooting In Vienna Leads To Charges

A suspect has been charged in the June 2021 shooting that killed one person, according to the Vienna Police Department.

VIENNA, VA — A man has been charged in a June 2021 fatal shooting in Vienna, according to police.

The Vienna Police Department arrested Andrew Gordiyenko Monday and charged him with involuntary manslaughter, reckless handling of a firearm, and unlawful firing in an occupied dwelling.

Police had responded to the shooting in the early morning of June 10, 2021 in the 100 block of Patrick Street SE. Officers found a victim inside an apartment with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim was taken to the hospital in life-threatening condition. The victim who died was Matthew Chadwick, of Vienna, according to police. Chadwick was a 2018 graduate of James Madison High School, according to his obituary.
