Bey Lounge Asked To Reduce Noise In Permit Renewal
A number of Vienna residents have signed a petition to end the permit for a lounge, citing noise complaints.

VIENNA, VA—A lounge responsible for dozens of noise violations since it's opened could be renewed—under a few conditions.
Last week, the Vienna Planning Commission recommended the live entertainment permit be renewed for Bey Lounge (303A Mill Street NE), Inside NOVA reports.
The rear faces a residential neighborhood on Park Street NE. The lounge has seen 54 mostly noise reports to police since it opened in November 2015. The management ended up receiving 10 citations and six warnings.

The most recent incident reported by a resident was Sunday, Oct. 1 around 1 a.m., after the lounge installed sound-proofing recommended by the town. Bey Lounge was given a summons for violating the noise ordinance.
Planning commission members have suggested the lounge work with neighbors and a sound engineer to further address the noise concerns. (SIGN UP: Subscribe to a Virginia Patch News Alert and Newsletter. Or, if you have an iPhone, download the free Patch app.)

The noise complaints have been an ongoing issue, with dozens of complaints reported last year too. Past permit renewals have requested the lounge address noises, respond to complaints and limit hours. The club is open until 12:30 a.m. all nights except Thursday, Friday and Saturday, when it is open until 2 a.m.
A number of residents on Park Street have signed a petition demanding the town end Bey Lounge's music permit. A portion of the petition by residents Hemang and Vandana Patel reads:
After 2 years, Bey Lounge claimed during the council meeting that they are doing what they can and are making these changes. Unfortunately, we are still disturbed by loud drum beats and vocals every weekend with minimal change. In fact, one of our bedrooms is absolutely unbearable till 2 a.m., and our two children are having disturbed sleep. We are honestly struggling to get proper sleep on weekends that has been going on since Bey Lounge's opening.
The measure will go to the Board of Zoning Appeals. The next meeting would happen Nov. 15 at 8 p.m. Read more about the permit here.
