Black Friday Shoplifting Thwarted At Vienna 7-Eleven

Vienna Police prevented a shoplifter from getting away on Black Friday.

VIENNA, VA—It may not be as big as the recent Tysons crime ring bust, but Vienna Police can say they stopped a robbery on Black Friday.

Luckily for the 7-Eleven at 545 Maple Avenue West, an officer was watching as a man tried to shoplift from the convenience store around 10:55 p.m. on Nov. 24. The officer was able to detain the suspect, despite attempts to escape.

The suspect, a 25-year-old man from Richmond, was arrested and taken to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. He has been served an arrest warrant for resisting arrest.

The 7-Eleven declined to press charges. The stolen item was returned to the store.

Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated - 17-010591

November 30 11:41 p.m.

During a traffic stop Officer B. Reedy detected the odor of alcoholic beverage on the breath of
the driver. After the driver failed a series of sobriety tests he was placed under arrest. The 44-
year-old man from Westown Way in Vienna, VA was arrested and transported to the Vienna
Police Station. The man refused to perform the official breath test. The man was then transported
to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where two arrest warrants were obtained (Driving
While Intoxicated and Refuse Breath Test) and served. The man was remanded to the custody of
the Fairfax County Deputies.
