Blog Post: Stay Cool-Virginia Farmers' Market Week

It's hot out there and Virginia Farmers Market week reminds us of fruits, vegetables, meats and cheeses at the markets throughout the state. We'll even have a way for you to think cool on Saturday.

Virginia’s Farmers Week is here. This is another reason to come to the market and support your local farmer.

The warm weather has the market burgeoning with fruits and vegetables. August 5 through the 11 is a perfect time to come to the market and interact with the Vienna Market farmers directly. The flavor and nutrition is better when the transportation from field/pasture/etc to your fork is same-day / next-day and local.

In celebration, of Farmers Market week, our Vienna Farmers Market banner goes up over Maple Avenue in Vienna on Tuesday, August 7th -- so be sure to look for it when driving through town. And check this space next week for updated news from a special guest whom we are expecting to attend the market on August 4th.

TJ Michael, “the balloon artist” will be at the Vienna Farmers Market from 8 a.m. to noon, the caboose (the winter theme) will be open for all from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Our weekly nonprofit tent will feature Veronica Day who is training for the Winter Olympic Skeleton team in Lake Placid as a member of the elite training group. It is our way of helping you to think cold weather.

So -- don’t wait until the official Virginia Market Week is here; get the kids and come on down to the market this Saturday (August 4th). See you there.
