Vienna Teen Wins 2013 Middle Atlantic PGA Junior Championship
Vienna's Shannon Brooks qualifies for national junior championship with the win.

Shannon Brooks of Vienna captured the girls' 2013 Middle Atlantic PGA Junior Championship title Friday at a rainy Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, Va.
Brooks's win qualifies her for the national Junior PGA Championship to be held July 30 to Aug. 2 at Trump National Golf Club in Washington, D.C.
On Thursday, Brooks shot a ladies' course-record 68 (four strokes under par) in her first round, surging to a lead that she would not relinquish. For the two-day tournament, Brooks finished with a combined score of 140, two strokes clear of the rest of the field and one of only three golfers to finish in under 150 strokes.
Fellow Viennian Siena Ferrick also cracked the top-10 of the tournament with a combined two-day score of 156, good enough to finish ninth in the field.
On the boys' side, Jake Leavitt of Woodstock, Md. brought home the title with a combined score of 144 for the tournament. Chantilly's Sam Jung and Ashburn's Ryan Frick represented Northern Virginia in the boys' top-10 with scores of 147 and 149, respectively. Leavitt will join Brooks at Trump National Golf Club at the end of the month for the Junior PGA Championship.
