Catalytic Converter Theft, Pedestrian Struck: Vienna Crime Report
Vienna Police are investigating numerous incidents in the last week, including a man yelling at an autistic child inside a store.

VIENNA, VA — The latest Vienna police report includes a variety of incidents, from a theft from a drive-thru window to a man trespassed from a store after allegedly yelling at an autistic child.

Fraud 22-007799
Between July 5 at 12:01 a.m. and July 28 at 8:50 a.m.
A resident reported that she listed pavers for sale on Craig’s List. An individual immediately
replied and sent the resident a cashier’s check for much more than the agreed-upon price. The
resident took the check to the bank and found that it was fraudulent. A few days later the
resident received another envelope with the same fraudulent cashier’s check made payable to a
different individual.

Karin’s Florist
527 Maple Avenue, West
Between July 23 at 3:14 p.m. and July 25 at 7:57 p.m.
An employee reported that someone has used another person’s credit card to make unauthorized
purchases online from Karin’s Florist.
Arrest – Littering 22-007904
Malcolm Road and Roberts Drive, NW
July 31 3:45 a.m.
An officer observed a vehicle pulling out of the Wawa parking lot and traveling north on Nutley
Street, NW. As the vehicle entered the roadway, the passenger threw trash out the window. The
officer observed the driver commit a traffic offense and initiated a traffic stop. Upon his
interaction with the occupants of the vehicle, he detected an odor of alcohol. The driver
displayed some signs of impairment. The passenger was sober. The driver agreed to allow the
passenger to drive them home. MPO Reedy issued a summons to the passenger, a 21-year-old man from Bree Hill Road in Oakton, Virginia charging Littering on the Highway on released him on his signature.

August 1 2:00 a.m.
An employee reported that two men were in a vehicle in the drive-thru placing an order. When
they reached the cashier window, the passenger, who was seated in the rear seat got out of the
vehicle, grabbed the tray of cash from the register, and the men fled the area in the vehicle.
Suspicious Event 22-007937
Giant Food
359 Maple Avenue, East
August 1 4:30 p.m.
An employee reported that a man was cursing and yelling at an autistic child and his parents in
the store. The employee attempted to get the man to calm down when he began cursing at her.
The man was asked to leave and was told by the employee that he was not permitted back in the
store. The man left the area before officers arrived but was located in the area of the Starbucks a
short time later. An officer informed the man that he was trespassed from Giant and would be
arrested if he returns to the store.
Crash - Maple Avenue and Lewis Street, NW 22-007925
August 1 7:48 a.m.
Vehicle-1 stopped at the stop sign on Lewis Street at Maple Avenue. Pedestrian-1 was walking
eastbound in the crosswalk. Vehicle-1 attempted to turn right onto Maple and struck the
pedestrian. Pedestrian-1 was evaluated by rescue personnel but refused transport.
Driver-1 was issued a summons charging Failure to Yield to a Pedestrian.

900 Block Cottage Street, SW
August 2 between 8:40 p.m. and 9:35 p.m.
A resident reported a suspicious man who came to her door. While officers were searching the
area they found that someone appeared to have rummaged through the resident’s vehicle and left
the driver’s door open. Nothing appeared to have been taken from the vehicle.

100 Block Casmar Street, SE
August 3 2:30 a.m.
A resident reported that someone rummaged through her unlocked vehicle and stole two pairs of
sunglasses.

200 Block Prescott Circle, SE
August 3 between 12:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.
A resident reported that someone damaged political and patriotic signs that she had in her yard.

Navy Federal Credit Union
801 Follin Lane, SE
August 3 2:50 p.m.
A citizen who resides in North Carolina reported that someone stole a check that she mailed,
altered the amount it was written for, and passed it at the Navy Federal Credit Union.
