Update: Dump Truck Runs Over, Kills Man in Great Falls

Update: No charges are expected from the dump truck accident that killed a man in Great Falls Thursday.

(Updated 11:36 a.m. Friday) FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A dump truck accidentally ran over and killed a man in Great Falls at the 10500 block of Georgetown Pike Thursday, Fairfax County Police say.

Police said Pedro Banegas, 50, of Sterling, was working on mechanical issues at the front of the truck when the truck struck him. A 63-year-old man has moved the truck forward, unaware that Banegas was there.

No charges are expected, police say. An investigation found neither speed nor alcohol contributed to the accident.

Police ask witnesses of the accident to call the Crash Reconstruction witness line at 703-280-0543, submit a tip through Crime Solvers, text “TIP187” and a message to CRIMES(274637) (or call 1-866-411-TIPS), or reach Fairfax County Police at 703-691-2131.

The incident comes as a similar accident with a dump trump occurred Wednesday.
