Combining folk and pop music inspired by the ’60s, the Village Voice calls Girlyman “really good, really unexpected, and really different.”
- Nate Borofsky, Doris Muramatsu, Ty Greenstein, and JJ Jones use their vocal and instrumental collaboration to emulate the music they grew up listening to, including The Mamas & The Papas and Simon & Garfunkel.
- Girlyman won an Independent Music Award for their debut album, Remember Who I Am, in 2004.
- The band has been co-writing with comedian Margaret Cho, who loves the band for their vivacious personalities and ability to seamlessly blend folk, country, pop, and rock.
