Fairfax County Coronavirus Update: 8,831 Cases, 330 Deaths

There are 154 new cases of the new coronavirus in the Fairfax Health District, bringing the total number of cases to 8,831.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — There are 154 new cases of the new coronavirus in the Fairfax Health District, as of Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the health district to 8,831.

There have been a total of 330 deaths in Fairfax Health District as of Friday morning, according to the Fairfax County Health Department COVID-19 Case Data Dashboard. COVID-19 is the disease caused by the coronavirus. As of Friday morning, there are 1,198 coronavirus-related hospitalizations in the health district.

The data dashboard breaks down the number of coronavirus cases in the health district by locality. There are currently 8,734 confirmed cases in Fairfax County, 51 in the City of Fairfax and 36 in the City of Falls Church.

The dashboard also breaks down the number of cases by zip code case rate – or case per 100,000 people – in order to protect the confidential health information of residents and give a more accurate picture of the coronavirus impact on communities.

The breakdown of the top 10 case rates by zip code is as follows:

  • 22150: 2,201 cases per 100,000
  • 22041: 1,844 cases per 100,000
  • 22311: 1,765 cases per 100,000
  • 22306: 1,760 cases per 100,000
  • 22027: 1,735 cases per 100,000
  • 22042: 1,419 cases per 100,000
  • 22003: 1,402 cases per 100,000
  • 22044: 1,298 cases per 100,000
  • 22309: 1,252 cases per 100,000
  • 20170: 1,248 cases per 100,000

The breakdown of cases by age group is:

  • Ages 0-17: 457 cases, or 163.5 per 100,000 people
  • Ages 18-49: 4,842 cases, or 937.4 per 100,000 people
  • Ages 50-64: 2,039 cases, or 863.8 per 100,000 people
  • Ages 65 and over: 1,493 cases, or 999.6 per 100,000 people
  • Total: 8,831 cases, or 747.5 per 100,000 people

The breakdown of deaths by age group is:

  • Ages 0-17: 0 deaths
  • Ages 18-49: 9 deaths
  • Ages 50-64: 31 deaths
  • Ages 65 and over: 290 deaths
  • Total: 330 deaths

In response to donation offers, the county has compiled a number of ways to help. Monetary donations can go to the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia's COVID-19 Response Fund. The county is accepting personal protective equipment donations for health department staff and safety net health care providers. Donations can include N95 masks, surgical masks, disposable medical gowns, shoe coverings, hair coverings, nitrile gloves and other medical supplies.

Volunteer Fairfax also has a list of donation requests from nonprofits.
