Fire Does More Than $100,000 Damage to Vienna Home

Two occupants were treated at the scene for minor injuries. The six-member family has been displaced by the fire that broke out Saturday.

A Vienna family was displaced over the weekend, after a fire broke out at their home, according to the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

Firefighters responded Saturday at approximately 5:45 p.m. to a house fire in the Town of Vienna. The single-family home is located in the 9500 block of Noory Court.

Firefighters encountered smoke and fire coming from the garage of the two-story home when they arrived, the fire department said. Firefighters conducted an aggressive fire attack and brought the fire under control in approximately 15 minutes, the department reported.

The fire was discovered by the home’s occupants before the working smoke alarms began sounding, the fire department said. Five adults and one child have been displaced. Red Cross support was offered but declined by the occupants. Two occupants were treated at the scene for minor injuries. There were no other injuries.

Damage is estimated at $137,500, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.

According to fire investigators, the fire was accidental. A freezer motor ignited spilled gasoline in the garage causing the fire.
