Fire Starts During Home Repairs In Wolf Trap Area
A contractor was cited for not having a hot work permit for the home repairs.
VIENNA, VA — A fire broke out while workers were doing repairs at a home in the Wolf Trap area Monday, according to Fairfax County Fire and Rescue.
Around 10:28 a.m., firefighters responded to a single-family home in the 9400 block of Shouse Drive with smoke showing in the front. Units found fire in the first floor wall space and quickly put it out. No one was injured.
Three residents were home when a worker discovered the fire. Investigators determined the fire started when workers used a torch to repair an exterior faucet, which ignited combustible items in the wall. The contractor was issued a violation for not having a required hot work permit.
