Somewhere between alternative and folk lies the music of For Mercy, whose soaring harmonies, shimmering guitars and sophisticated rhythms made them a favorite on the DC/VA music scene and a fixture at East Coast colleges, festivals and clubs ranging from The Bayou to The Birchmere.
After several successful independent releases and hundreds of shows, the members of For Mercy turned their attention to other projects for more than a decade before reuniting last year at Jammin' Java for a resounding benefit concert.
Now, they'll take to the stage one more time to benefit the Tahirih Justice Center, an organization that works to protect immigrant women and girls seeking justice in the United States from gender-based violence.
“Songs that examine personal relationships with intelligence, passion and insight…”
—Mike Joyce, The Washington Post
“Their fusion of modern rock with traditional folk creates an exquisitely textured sound.”
—Olivia May, The Free Lance Star
“A darling of critics and audiences in the Mid-Atlantic states.”
