I-66 Express Lane Work To Prompt Bridge Closure Near Vienna Metro
A bridge over I-66 will be closed near the Vienna/Fairfax Metro station beginning in the fall for construction.

VIENNA, VA — The project that will add Express Lanes on Interstate 66 has caused traffic shifts around the Vienna/Fairfax exits. Drivers should expect a greater disruption this fall when a bridge over I-66 closes for a long-term period.
The Vaden Drive bridge over I-66, located just west of the Vienna/Fairfax Metro stations, will be closed from fall 2019 to summer 2020. According to WTOP, the closure could begin in late October.
Vaden Drive is located next to Metro parking areas on the north and south sides of I-66. There is no planned closure of the Metro parking areas. WTOP says the bridge closure will prompt buses, school buses and first responders to seek alternate routes.

Another major change coming will be a Nutley Street interchange, but VDOT officials told WTOP major work would not happen until the Vaden Drive bridge work is done.
Reconstruction of the Route 123 interchange has begun. Drivers exiting I-66 to Route 123 north toward Oakton are using a temporary exit ramp until the end of October. The ramp from I-66 west to Route 123 south remains the same.
