VIENNA, VA — Community input is wanted on the next fiscal year budget for the Town of Vienna. The budget will be the topic of discussion at the On Deck with Mercury forum Tuesday at Town Hall, 127 Center St. S., Vienna, VA.

The community forum discussion will look at the fiscal year 2024 budget outlook and budget priorities. Participants will include Town Manager Mercury Payton, Finance Director Marion Serfass and Vienna Mayor Linda Colbert. Residents will get a chance to share their ideas for budget priorities and ask questions.

The town's budget includes four operating funds: general, water and sewer, debt service, and stormwater. The real estate tax rate that town property owners pay on top of Fairfax County's tax is set in the budget, as well as water and sewer rates. The town's Capital Improvement Plan outlines long-term projects with funding through the issuance of bonds and repayment through meals tax revenue. The Town Manager typically proposes a budget in the spring, followed by Town Council holding budget sessions and public hearings before budget approval.
