It’s hot outside but yes, you should still come on down to the farmers market. It is the thing to do! We are at 301 Center Street South and open on Saturdays from 8 am to noon. Anyway the heat of the summer means sometimes you don't want to bake but we've got the solution for you. If you need something special to take to that barbeque, party, dinner, a special shower, brunch, a gift to a friend, or even for you to snack on yourself. Well why not stop by the Forget-Me-Not sweet delicacies at the farmers market for some baked cookies? They are beautifully boxed for you (they also come in bags as well). I've remembered to take Forget-Me-Not boxes on many occasions to gatherings and they've received great comments.
For those of you wondering about the bakeries name, well I cannot explain it any better than the delicacies own Facebook page, “Anyone who sees our name for the first time may ask -- Why should anyone name their bakery, Forget-Me-Not? According to a German legend, when God was naming all the plants, a tiny unnamed one cried out, "Forget-me-not, O Lord!" God replied, "That shall be your name.” Our story is very similar to this legend. Looking at the expansive baking industry in our metropolitan area, we are very small and may look insignificant. Fortunately, once you try our delicious sweets made with love and care, we are sure that you will “Forget-Me-Not.” Visit Forget-Me-Not's Facebook page.
Many of the Forget-Me-Not cookies have nuts; some do not, so ask in advance if you have nut allergies. And I encourage everyone to stop by for a delightful taste test. We at the market are proud to have this Great Falls based delicacies bakery at the market this year. Pastry chef, Semira Khalili is classically trained and she graduated from two local culinary institutes. Her new endeavor in making these classic French cookies is exciting to behold. She experiments with her recipes until she has things just right and often will have new assortments and new items each week for customers (thus my statement that you should stop by for taste treats often!). Witnessing her customer base growing at the market and seeing her wonderful and sweet creations has been a delight. Customers have told us that cookies are light, buttery, soft on the palette and just right with a cup of tea or an evening meal. Yum I want one right now.

Lastly, we would be remiss not to mention that it’s the Buy Local Challenge week in Maryland with a concentration on Maryland’s Best Agriculture. So Happy Farmer’s Market week to our Maryland farmer at the market, Friendly Hall Farms, from Helen Maryland. This wonderful farm sells wonderful sustainable produce, eggs, and organic lamb, beef and pork. Get to the market early and buy flowers too (and ask for the special multi colored eggs and ask how they come to be, it’s fascinating!). See you all next week right here or at the market….Farmer SJ
