Dog Bites Woman at Park: Vienna Crime
Here's a look at the week in crime from the Town of Vienna Police.

VIENNA, VA -- A woman was bit by a dog in a local park last week, according to the weekly Vienna Police crime report released Friday. Here's a look at the case and other highlights:
Animal Case – Quarantine 16-001662 700 Block Courthouse Road, SW February 26 3:00 p.m. A resident reported she was at the Vienna Dog Park with her dog when another dog, a medium to large, Labrador mix, approached her dog and would not leave it alone. She stated she attempted to separate the two when she was bit on the lip and ear. She stated the dog did not appear to have an owner and fled the area. ACO Barker informed her he would make every attempt to locate the dog and owner. The citizen informed him she had started the post exposure treatment. This case is being investigated.

INCIDENTS
Fraud 16-001573, 1100 Block Pekay Street, SW: Between February 01 at 12:01 a.m. and February 27 at 7:36 p.m. A resident reported she attempted to apply for a loan and found that someone else had attached their name to her account. She stated the access to her credit report had been blocked and flagged as fraudulent. This case is being investigated.
Destruction of Property 16-001635 1000 Block Park Street, SE Between February 22 at 12:24 p.m. and March 01 at 12:24 p.m. A resident reported he placed a “For Rent” sign in his front yard, which was secured with a chain to a utility pole. He stated he returned to the property and found the frame to the sign, still intact, but the printed portion had been torn from the sign.
Vandalism 16-001521 377 Maple Avenue, West February 25 between 5:00 p.m. and 11:13 p.m. An employee returned to his vehicle, after his shift, to find his vehicle had been keyed.
Open Door 16-001540 Jiffy Lube 210 Maple Avenue, West February 26 7:13 p.m. An alarm company reported a business alarm had been activated. Officer Hylinski responded and found a door had been left unlocked. He along with MPO Nelson searched the business and found nothing out of place. As they were leaving an employee returned and stated he may have left the door unlocked.
Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated 16-001574 500 Block Tapawingo Road, SW February 27 7:53 p.m. MPO Vazquez responded to the area for the report of a two vehicle crash. Upon arriving on the scene he determined the driver of the striking vehicle was traveling eastbound on Tapawingo Road, SW when he struck a legally parked vehicle. Upon his interaction with the driver he determined he may have been impaired. After failing to complete a series of field sobriety tests, and concerned for the injuries he sustained in the crash, Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were summoned to evaluate the injuries the driver had sustained in the crash. The driver was transported to an area hospital for treatment of those injuries. He was also given the opportunity to provide a sample of his blood for analysis. After the analysis, and treatment for his injuries, the driver, a 39 year old man from Frederick Street, SW in Vienna was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He was to be held until he was sober.
Arrest – Narcotics Violation 16-001577 Beulah Road at Delancey Drive, NW February 27 9:07 p.m. PFC Kiley was on patrol when he observed the driver of a vehicle commit a series of traffic offenses. As a result of those offenses he conducted a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After further interaction he located a measureable amount of marijuana. The driver, a 19 year old woman from Seneca Road in Falls Church, Virginia was issued a summons for Reckless Driving and Possession of Marijuana. She was released after signing the summonses.
Vehicle Tampering 16-001610 500 Block Nutley Street, SW February 27 9:44 p.m. A resident reported someone had entered his unlocked vehicle and rummaged through the center console and glove compartment.
Arrest – Driving While Intoxicated 16-001579 400 Block Maple Avenue, West February 28 3:20 a.m. Officer Hylinski was on patrol when he observed the driver of a vehicle commit a series of traffic offenses. As a result of those offenses he conducted a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver he determined he may have been impaired. After failing to complete a series of field sobriety tests he arrested the 26 year old man from Urbana Drive in Silver Spring, Maryland for Driving While Intoxicated. He was transported to the Vienna Police Station where he was given the opportunity to provide a sample of his breath for analysis. After the analysis he was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Driving While Intoxicated. He was held on a $1,000.00 bond.
Police Service 16-001589 Cloud Nine Homes 340 Mill Street, NE February 29 9:00 a.m. An employee reported that after terminating an employee the ex-employee became upset and stormed out of the business without completing the termination paperwork. The employee was concerned the ex-employee would return and be confrontational. Officer Slebonick informed him to contact the Vienna Police Department if he returns.
Fraud 16-001697 100 Block Tapawingo Road, SW February 29 9:00 a.m. A resident reported his elderly mother had received a telephone call from an individual who stated her grandson had been arrested. The caller stated she needed to purchase iTunes Gift Cards and call the caller back with the account numbers, in order to bail her grandson out of jail. His mother went to a CVS and purchased the Gift Cards. Prior to her contacting the caller she contacted her son and was informed this was a scam. This case is being investigated.
Assault 16-001593 The Cedar Lane School 101 Cedar Lane, SW February 29 11:30 a.m. An employee reported a student was attempting to push his way into her classroom when he drove his shoulder into hers causing it to strike a door frame. This case is being investigated.
Arrest – Possession of Marijuana/Hit and Run 16-001646 400 Block Maple Avenue, West February 29 5:50 p.m. The driver of a vehicle was exiting a parking lot onto Maple Avenue, West when she was struck by a white vehicle traveling westbound in the center turn lane of Maple Avenue, West. The driver of the striking vehicle did not stop to exchange information. MPO Smith was on patrol when he observed a vehicle in the area of Kingsley Road and Nutley Street, SW. The vehicle matched the description of the striking vehicle. As a result he conducted a traffic stop. After his interaction with the driver he discovered she had been driving on a restricted driver’s license, he also located a measurable amount of marijuana. The driver, a 26 year old woman from Glenallen Street in Springfield, Virginia was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where she was charged with Possession of Marijuana, Hit and Run and Driving after Forfeiture of her Driver’s License. She was held on a $1,500.00 bond.
Alcohol Violation 16-001616 200 Block Paris Court, SW February 29 11:15 p.m. Sgt. Farhan was on patrol when he observed a juvenile walking in the area, holding a beer in each hand. Sgt. Farhan stopped and spoke with the juvenile who stated he had been at a party in the area and had drunk one beer. The juvenile was told to pour out the remaining beer. His father was contacted and responded to the area to take his son home. After counselling the boy on the effects and consequences of underage possession of alcohol he was released to his father.
Domestic Assault 16-001634 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE March 01 11:34 a.m. Officer Slebonick responded to the area for the report of two females involved in a physical altercation. Once on the scene he spoke with the resident who stated she and her sister had beeninvolved in a verbal altercation that turned physical. The other sister had left the residence prior to the arrival of the police. The resident did not have any visible injuries and did not request rescue. She stated she did not wish to pursue charges against her sister.
Animal Case 16-001637 Vienna Police Station 215 Center Street, South March 01 1:20 p.m. MPO Seitz found a female Bull Terrier running at large in the area of Nutley Street and Orchard Street, NW. He brought the dog to the Vienna Police Station where ACO Barker attempted to obtain the owner’s address. Being unsuccessful he transported the dog to the Fairfax County Animal Shelter to be held until her owners can be located.
Grand Larceny 16-001642 Good Feet 175 Maple Avenue, East March 01 2:21 p.m. An employee reported someone had taken an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register. This case is being investigated.
Suspicious Event 16-001663 Epiphany Pre-School 1014 Country Club Drive, NE Between March 01 at 5:00 p.m. and March 02 at 6:00 a.m. An employee reported on several occasions employees have found empty alcohol containers on the playground and playground equipment had been moved. She requested extra patrols in the area.
Police Service 16-001644 200 Block Yeonas Drive, SW March 01 6:23 p.m. A resident reported she and her roommate had been having on-going problems. She stated the roommate had been verbally aggressive towards her and she believes he spat on the driver’s side window of her vehicle. She requested a report be taken in the event something more serious were to happen.
Arrest – Trespassing/Underage Possession of Alcohol 16-001645 Southside Park 1317 Ross Drive, SW March 01 8:02 p.m. PFC Tracy responded to the park after receiving a report of a moped being driven in the park in violation of the No Trespassing After Dark Ordinance. Upon arriving in the park the moped was located and open containers of beer were found on a picnic bench. PFC Tracy searched the area and found three male individuals. One of the individuals, a 20 year old man from Chain Bridge Road in Vienna was found to be in possession of alcohol. PFC Tracy issued the man summonses for Trespassing and Underage Possession of Alcohol. He was released after signing the summonses.
Vandalism 16-001682 Dermatologic Surgery Group 243 Church Street, NW March 02 between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. An employee reported she returned to her vehicle, after work, and found someone had scratched it along the entire driver’s side from the front to the rear of the vehicle.
Burglary 16-001687 The Mad Vapery 320 Maple Avenue, East March 03 3:27 a.m. An alarm company reported a business alarm had been activated. Officer Hylinski responded and found a basement window open and a ceiling light was on. Officer Hylinski searched the business and found a display case had been opened and the contents were in disarray. The owners of the business responded and stated several “Vape” smoking products and accessories were missing. This case is being investigated.
Mental Case 16-001704 Kelley Street, SW March 03 1:30 p.m. Officer Post responded to a residence after several calls were placed to the Vienna Police Station from friends of the resident, who received text messages, stating she may be going to harm herself. The mother of the resident was contacted and returned home to take her daughter to a doctor for treatment.
Arrest – Domestic Assault 16-001710 Berry Street, SE March 03 10:04 p.m. A resident reported she and her father had been involved in a verbal argument that escalated when he struck her in the face. Officer Hylinski spoke with the daughter and found injuries consistent with being struck in the face. He arrested the 55 year old man from Berry Street, SE for Domestic Assault. He was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged with Domestic Assault and held on a $2,500.00 bond. A Protective Order was also issued.
