Leaving and cleaning the homestead...
Our house sold! 5 bedrooms, 6 baths and 20 years of crap. When hubby moved out 6 months earlier he took his things and family furniture. So in his mind he had packed and moved. But moving from the homestead means right down to the last paper clip. I totally underestimated the task at hand. My best tip... Freecycle. Join and post items you are giving away for FREE. For example, my 3 car garage was filled with half filled paint cans, assorted rakes and gardening equipment, shovels, hoses etc. The green side of my brain refused to add to our local landfill. Freecycle worked beautifully. A woman who recently returned from overseas with her family and moved into a new home scooped up many of my gardening items including a half bag of deer out! Who knew local theater groups could use half cans of paint? It was a love fest. The receivers were so appreciative and me, the giver was so thankful. No hassle, no pricing squabble...no unnecessary dumping. It felt good.
