Metro Service Information for New Year's Eve Holiday

If you take the metro, here is the schedule information for New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

Metrorail will remain open until 2 a.m. on New Year’s Eve (early New Year’s Day) for the benefit of holiday revelers. Below is a summary of Metrorail, Metrobus and MetroAccess service during the holiday season.

New Year’s Eve
Wednesday, Dec. 31

• Regular weekday service on Metrobus and Metrorail. Standard fare policies and parking rates in effect.
• Special late-night service: Metrorail will remain open two hours later than normal, until 2 a.m. Last train times vary by station; add two hours to weekday last train times. To check last train times for any station, visit wmata.com/stations.

New Year’s Day
Thursday, Jan. 1

• Holiday service: Metrorail and Metrobus will operate on Sunday schedule. Off-peak fares in effect all day; parking free at all Metro-operated facilities. No scheduled track work.
• Metrorail system open 7 a.m. until midnight.

• MetroAccess subscription trips cancelled.

Friday, Jan. 2

• Regular weekday service on Metrobus and Metrorail. Standard fare policies and parking rates in effect.

Between Dec. 22, 2014 and Jan. 4, 2015, all Metrorail trains will operate with six cars due to lighter than normal ridership.
