Metro Trains Get Dangerously Close on Orange Line
A train ran a red signal while another train was stopped on the platform at Smithsonian, about 150 feet away, according to report.

Two Orange Line Metro trains came dangerously close at the Smithsonian station after one ran past a red signal, according to an NBC Washington report.
The incident, just before closing on Wednesday, was reportedly confirmed by a Metro spokesperson.
An Orange Line train reportedly ran the red signal while traveling under 10 miles per hour. A second train was stopped at Smithsonian, according to NBC Washington, just 150 feet away.

The train that ran the signal wasn’t carrying any passengers. It’s unknown how many people were on the train at the station.
The Federal Transit Administration was notified.
According to WTOP, The FTA said in December that Metro has serious issues with trains running red signals and speeding in the rail system.
