Power Out for Nearly 4,000 Late Wednesday

More than 14,000 in Northern Virginia were without power at one point as dangerous thunderstorms moved through the area.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- More than 14,000 homes were without power at one point Wednesday night in Northern Virginia. Dominion Power was reporting at 11 p.m. that 3,900 were still in the dark after powerful thunderstorms and winds tore through the area.

Impacted areas included Vienna, Great Falls, Tysons, Arlington (670 in Arlington), the Lake Barcroft area, Franconia, Fort Hunt and Lincolnia. Click here to see the map and the number of outages in each area.

Dominion estimates that power should be restored by midnight.
