Vienna Shifts Town Council, Mayor Elections From May To November

VIENNA, VA — Even as Town of Vienna voters will vote in some Fairfax County primary elections on June 20, the town's elected offices will be on the ballot in November.

The mayor and the six Town Council seats will be up for election on Nov. 7, 2023. A change in state law prompted Vienna to move town elections from May to November. In the past, Town Council and mayor elections happened based on staggered two-year terms.

Town of Vienna residents who have lived in Virginia for at least one year before the election are eligible to run for Town Council seats. The filing deadline will be June 20. Interested candidates may seek more information from the Virginia Department of Elections.

November's town election will happen at voters' assigned polling places. Aside with the town elections, the general election ballot will include races for Fairfax County School Board seats, all Fairfax County Board of Supervisors seats, Virginia House and Senate seats, Fairfax County clerk of Circuit Court, Commonwealth's Attorney and sheriff.

Residents can check or update their voter registration status, register to vote and find their polling place through the Virginia Department of Elections citizen portal.
