VIENNA, VA — Property owners were notified Monday about an upcoming meeting to discuss design of the Nutley Street shared-use path and Hunters Branch stream restoration projects.

The Town of Vienna's two projects are in design and focus on the area of Nutley Street south of Maple Avenue. A virtual meeting on both concepts will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 4.

The Nutley shared-use path project will replace a 4-foot concrete sidewalk with an 8-foot multipurpose path along 1,300 feet of the west side of Nutley Street SW from Marshall Road SW to Tapawingo Road SW. The estimated project start date is fall 2025 with a cost of $295,000.

The phase 2 Hunters Branch restoration project will restore approximately 1,800 linear feet of natural stream from Tapawingo Road SW down to the Town boundary at Virginia Center Boulevard. The project will also stabilize the eroded stream banks, reduce sedimentation, and improve water quality through natural channel design techniques. An estimated construction start date has not yet been determined. The design budget is $1.92 million.

An exhibit for the Nutley Street shared-use path and concept plan for the Hunters Branch restoration will be posted by July 30 on each project web page.
