Pit Bull-Type Dogs Attack Woman In Oakton: Police

Police say the attack happened after the dogs escaped through an open gate in the backyard.

OAKTON, VA—A dog owner faces charges after two pit bull-type dogs attacked a woman in Oakton Friday, March 22, Fairfax County Police say.

Around 4:34 p.m., the woman was driving in the area of Hunter Mill Road and Mystic Meadow Way and spotted three pit bull mix dogs in the road. Two of the dogs reportedly attacked her when she stepped out of the car. Police say the dogs bit her leg and arm, leaving puncture wounds.

Police determined the dog owner left the dogs unattended, and they escaped through an open gate in the backyard. The owner ultimately picked up the dogs in her car. The dog owner, Shanin Quashie, 51, of Oakton, was charged with three unrestricted dog violations.
