Police: Two Carjackings Near Vienna Metro Could be Work of One Suspect

Fairfax County Police released photos Friday of a suspect in a second carjacking that took place at 3000 Nutley St., near the Vienna Metro station. A previously reported incident took place in the metro parking lot last week.
Fairfax County Police reported Thursday that there was an earlier carjacking that took place near last week’s carjacking at the Vienna Metro Station parking lot; this one happened on Friday, Nov. 7, also near Vienna.
At approximately 9:50 p.m. that night, police responded to a report of a carjacking in the 3000 block of Nutley Street in Fairfax.

The suspect approached the victim in the parking lot of a shopping center, produced a handgun and forced the victim into her own vehicle. The suspect then had the victim drive to nearby banks to withdraw money.
The suspect exited the vehicle at the New Carrollton Metro Station, which is in Maryland, about 38 miles away from the shopping center. The victim did not require medical attention.

Another woman was carjacked last Wednesday night just after midnight (Thursday at 12:40 a.m.) in the parking lot of the Vienna Metrorail Station. That suspect also had the victim drive him to the New Carrollton Metro Station. Police say they are working with Metro Transit police.
The carjacking locations in Northern Virginia are a five-minute bus ride apart or a 15-minute walk.
Fairfax County Police detectives on Thursday released a composite sketch (see below) of the suspect in the Nov. 7 incident. That suspect is described as a black male, in his 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall. Metro police last week released a photo of the suspect in last week’s carjacking.
Fairfax County police detectives are working with detectives from Metro Transit police who are investigating the similar case in their jurisdiction.
