Police: Suspect Didn't Get Far in Alleged Car Theft

After a car went missing in the Vienna area, Fairfax County Police found it crashed and the alleged thief on the run.

When Fairfax County Police were dispatched to a car crash last Saturday afternoon, they ended up catching an alleged car thief.

It all started when a car went missing. The victim had parked his car in a parking lot and upon return, the vehicle was no longer there.

A short time later, at 5:45 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 5900 block of Leesburg Pike, to an accident involving the victim’s vehicle.

The driver fled on foot and was located by responding officers.

Fredy Portillo Villatoro, 33, of Woodbridge, was arrested and charged with grand larceny, larceny of an auto, DWI, felony hit and run and driving on a revoked license. Villatoro was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
