When you talk with locals about restaurants they miss, there's usually at least one place they can name. We asked Vienna Patch readers the one restaurant they'd like to bring back, and responses came in numbers.

At the time of publication, we've received 35 responses. Places mentioned by multiple people included Wu's Garden, Steak and Ale, Knossos Restaurant, Pho N More, That's Amore, Pizza Fair and Joe Theismann's.

  • Wu's Garden: This beloved Vienna staple closed in 2013 after 39 years of business. It was located at 418 Maple Avenue East. The location now hosts several businesses, including Potbelly Sandwich Shop and Zoës Kitchen.
  • Steak and Ale: The casual restaurant chain went bankrupt in 2008.
  • Knossos Restaurant: This Greek restaurant was located at 401 Maple Avenue East.
  • Bob's Big Boy: This longtime restaurant chain reached its height in the 1980s but has less locations today. A news report from 2019 indicated the new owners were planning to rebound.
  • Turmeric Indian Dining: This Indian restaurant was based at 405 Maple Ave East.
  • Pho N More: This Vietnamese restaurant was known for its noodle soups at 144 Maple Ave West.
  • Joe's Place Pizza & Pasta: The family-owned business at 435 Maple Ave West closed in 2017. The sole location remains on Lee Highway in Arlington.
  • That's Amore: This southern Italian restaurant was located at 150 Branch Road Southeast. The only location open today is in Rockville, Maryland.
  • Joe Theismann's: The namesake of the Redskins legend was located at 150 Branch Road SE in Vienna. One Joe Theismann's location remains near the King Street Metro in Alexandria.
  • Barbecue Country: This barbecue favorite was located at 118 Branch Rd Southeast.
  • Cenan's Bakery: The Turkish bakery at 122 Branch Rd Southeast was a favorite among locals before it closed in 2018.
  • Marco Polo: The former restaurant was already vacant when a two-alarm fire broke out in 2018, leading to arson charges. The site is set to become the Vienna Market mixed-use development.
  • Wolf Trap Cafe: The deli had been a part of the Vienna community for over 30 years before it suddenly closed in 2012.
  • Red Mango: Frozen yogurt was the specialty at this 431 Maple Avenue West shop.
