Reston-Based Trainer Arrested for Attempt to Film 'Upskirt' Video in Safeway

Michael Wayne Edwards, 33, of Centreville, was arrested for trying to film under a woman's clothing at the Safeway on South Lakes Drive.

Fairfax County Police have arrested a Centreville man working as a personal trainer in Reston after he reportedly tried to capture an “upskirt” video of a woman in a local supermarket earlier this month.

Michael Wayne Edwards, 33, a trainer at Fusion360 in Reston, was arrested on Aug. 6 and charged with filming nonconsensual nude, simulated masturbation and indecent exposure, police confirmed Wednesday. He’s currently being held at Fairfax Adult Detention Center.

The incident occurred on Aug. 5 at approximately 1:15 p.m. A woman told police that Edwards followed her through the Safeway on South Lakes Drive in Reston before following her out of the store and to another location near Sunrise Valley Drive and Lakespray Way.

It was there that Edwards reportedly called out to the female victim, exposed himself and then fled. No injuries were reported in connection to this case, police confirmed.

After Edwards fled, the female victim contacted police and described the suspect. Police were then able to identify Edwards, and with the help of store personnel they found Edwards was indeed trying to film the victim under her clothing in the supermarket.

Five years ago, Edwards also made headlines when he was found to have squirted multiple people with a squirt bottle filled with human semen. He was arrested and charged with second-degree assault.
