7 Vienna Car Break-Ins Reported Within Days
Vienna Police are investigating seven reports of car break-ins and thefts involving personal information in the last week.

VIENNA, VA—Vienna Police are investigating seven reports of car break-ins and thefts in the last week. At least five of the incidents involved unlocked cars.
The first pair happened between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 4 and Saturday, Aug. 5. Both happened at 300 Block Arcadian Circle, SW. In one incident, the victim reports someone entered her unlocked car and stole her purse, her husband’s wallet, driver’s licenses and various credit and debit cards. Her credit card activity showed several purchases were made overnight, including at Manhattan Bagel, (310 Maple Avenue, W). In the second incident, someone entered an unlocked car and took purses, her license and a credit card.
The next five incidents took place between Monday, Aug. 7 and Tuesday, Aug. 8. The incidents took place in the 1200 Block Ware Street, SW, 1000 Mountfort Court, SW, 1200 Drake Street, SW (two incidents) and 1000 Block Lynn Street, SW. One of the victims said her unlocked car was broken into; the other two locked cars weren't. Two of the three victims reported items missing, such as credit cards.

Another victim only learned of the theft when his credit card company notified him of a large purchase. He soon learned his wallet and personal information was gone, and several more purchases occurred on his account.

In a statement, police urged residents to take precautions: "There has been an increase in larcenies from vehicles in recent weeks. Please remember to remove all valuables from unattended vehicles and most importantly, lock the vehicle doors."

Between August 4 at 8:00 p.m. and August 5 at 3:25 p.m.
An employee reported the company van had been left legally parked in the parking lot. When
they returned to the vehicle they found someone had damaged the passenger side window of the
van.

134 Maple Avenue, West
Between August 4 at 9:00 p.m. and August 5 at 2:00 p.m.
An unknown person smashed the tinted store front window at Sport Clips.
Arrest - Drunk In Public 17-007096
Southside Park
1317 Ross Drive, SW
August 5 1:16 p.m.
Officers responded to the report of a woman who was attempting to drive her vehicle between
the fields at Southside Park. They located the woman outside of her vehicle in the park. Upon
the officer’s interaction with the woman they detected signs of impairment and she was unable to
explain how her vehicle ended up in the park.
MPO Seitz arrested the 55-year-old woman from Kalorama Road in Annandale, Virginia. She
was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where she was charged with
Drunk In Public.
Arrest – Drunk in Public 17-007106
200 Block Cedar Lane, SE
August 5 7:55 p.m.
A resident was driving in the parking lot of the apartments with her ex-boyfriend. The resident
advised the man was drunk and they were arguing when he assaulted her. When she advised him
that she was calling the police he threatened her, then got out of the vehicle and walked away.
Officers located the man in the shopping center parking lot. Upon their interaction with him they
detected signs of impairment and he became belligerent with the officers. MPO Shaw arrested
the 34-year-old man from Belmont Street, NW in Washington, DC for Drunk In Public. He was
transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The resident declined to pursue
assault charges.
