Steve Roslonek, as SteveSongs, has been writing and performing his award-winning family music for nearly fifteen years. A bright star on the kids' music scene, Steve has delighted audiences at such prestigious venues as Symphony Space in NYC, the Kennedy Center in DC, Wolf Trap in Vienna, VA, and Fenway Park in Boston. Steve has also been honored to perform at the White House. Combining his two passions, music and kids, has yielded what Steve calls" the coolest job ever." He notes, "With every song I try to add value to a child's life." Steve's music has won numerous awards, including two Parents' Choice® Gold Awards, a NAPPA Award, two iParenting Media Awards, and two Children's Music Web Awards. Steve's animated and live action videos online, including some for his popular illustrated books (published by Barefoot Books), have garnered millions of views.
Since May 2008, Steve Roslonek, as "Mr. Steve," has co-hosted the PBS KIDS preschool destination that features the popular shows Curious George, The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That, Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Dinosaur Train, Super Why! and Martha Speaks. He regularly makes appearances nationwide at PBS station events, and, along with other notable PBS KIDS characters, such as Hooper, he is a featured visitor at libraries across the country, encouraging kids to read through the JetBlue and PBS KIDS collaborative "Soar with Reading" program. Orangutan Van, Steve's first full-length album in six years, will be available for the very first time at these shows.
Every SteveSongs show is filled to the brim with great melodies, clever stories, and plenty of audience participation. Many of Steve's songs are wildly interactive; sometimes kids are even invited to join Steve and the band onstage. At Jammin' Java, fans can expect to take part in the hilarious call-and-response for "Grumpy Boy," join a super-silly game that's played to the accompaniment of the song "Brush Brush Brush," and work out with some aerobically challenging dance moves to one of Steve's most requested songs, "Recess Rocks."
