Stop Sign Violations Found In Enforcement Campaign By Vienna Police
Officers found stop sign violations and other traffic violations during a targeted campaign in the Town of Vienna.
VIENNA, VA — A stop sign enforcement campaign in the Town of Vienna resulted in citations for stop sign violations and other traffic offenses, according to the Vienna Police Department.
The targeted campaign to enforce stop sign violations was conducted during June to address increasing violations. Throughout June, officers found 219 stop sign violations and 74 other violations.
As the campaign started on June 1, Vienna Police reminded drivers to make a full stop at stop signs as well as at solid or flashing red lights before entering a crosswalk, intersection or beyond a stop line. Stop sign or red light violation tickets can result in a fine and three demerit points assessed to a driver's record.

The police department plans to do more traffic enforcement campaigns in the future.
In other police news, construction is progressing on the new police station at 215 Center Street S. An update on the project's completion will be provided during the next On Deck with Mercury held by Town Manager Mercury Payton. Police Chief Jim Morris will join for an update on the police station and when the public gets to visit. On Deck with Mercury will be held Aug. 9 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Vienna Police Department, 215 Center Street S. A recording will be posted on YouTube.
