Terry McAuliffe Is 32nd Among Most Popular Governors

The Virginia governor's disapproval percentage slightly increased from September 2016.

VIENNA, VA -- Virginia Gov. Terry McAuliffe is ranked 32nd among Morning Consult's most popular governor ratings, putting him in the bottom half among U.S. governors.

According to Morning Consult, voters gave McAuliffe 53 percent approval and 32 percent disapproval ratings. Only 15 percent said they didn't know how to rate the governor. The approval number has remained the same from the September 2016 Morning Consult rankings, while the disapproval number slightly increased.

McAuliffe's ranking comes as he recently broke the record of most vetoes by a Virginia governor, speaking to the divide between the parties. Virginia is a traditionally red state that has seen blue victories in recent years. Virginia law restricts McAuliffe from running for another term during 2017 state elections, but the public's perception of his term is expected to come into play.
