Here Are The Businesses Readers Would Like To Bring Back In Vienna

VIENNA, VA — There have been many business openings and closings over the years, but some closed businesses are especially missed in Vienna.

We asked readers businesses they wished they could bring back, no matter how long ago they were from. Over 60 comments came in as readers shared names of their favorite businesses of years past. From recently closed businesses to those popular years or decades ago, readers shared a variety of businesses.

Some businesses received multiple mentions. One of the top mentions was Cenan's Bakery, which was reported as closed in 2018 after 26 years in business. There has not yet been a replacement business for the bakery's now-vacant space at the Danor Plaza.

Another mention was Amphora Restaurant, which closed in early 2021 after 44 years. A restaurant called The Maple Room is planned for the old Amphora site at 377 Maple Avenue West, according to the town's development activity map. The Maple Room is seeking minor changes to the site, including outdoor seating.

While many shared restaurants they miss in Vienna, one reader commented on the state of business in Vienna.

"We will be losing many more small businesses due to more development in Vienna," the commenter wrote. "Then chain businesses come in and it will look like the same all over."
