Update: Woman Charged With Assaulting Metrobus Driver

Metro Transit Police are investigating the Thursday morning incident on Maple Avenue.

VIENNA, VA -- The Metro Transit Police arrested a woman after she assaulted a Metrobus driver during Thursday morning's rush hour, according to a Metro spokesman.

Vienna police pulled over the bus at about 8 a.m. Thursday on Maple Avenue (Route 123), the town's main thoroughfare, and calmed the situation down until the Metro police arrived, said Officer Patrick Kiley, a Vienna police spokesman. The Metro Transit Police took over the investigation of the incident, since they have jurisdiction over all Metro vehicles.

The woman, who was not identified, was charged with aggravated felony assault, said Richard Jordan, a Metro spokesman.
