Vienna Adjusts Real Estate Tax Deadline, Meal Tax Payments
Vienna and Fairfax County extended the date for the first real estate tax payment of the new fiscal year.

VIENNA, VA — On Monday, the Vienna Town Council voted for measures to aid residents and businesses financially impacted by coronavirus-related restrictions. Vienna is extending the due date for the real estate tax and making adjustments for meal tax payments.
The due date for the first installment of Vienna real estate taxes is moved one month forward to Aug. 28. Fairfax County also moved its first real estate tax payment due date for the next fiscal year to Aug. 28.
In addition, Town Council opted to waive penalty and interest fees for late payments of meal taxes through June 13. This emergency ordinance applies to April and May meal tax payments that Town of Vienna restaurants collect from customers and pay to the town government. The town is also increasing its on-time payment discount from 3 percent to 10 percent.

"Our Vienna restaurants are an important part of our community, and we hope that these measures provide a little bit of relief."
On Tuesday, the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors announced a microloan fund to support small business recovery. The Fairfax County Small Business COVID-19 Recovery Fund will provide eligible small businesses up to $20,000 with no interest for critical operating expenses.
