Vienna Community Center To Host Naturalization Ceremony For Liberty Amendments Month

VIENNA, VA – As part of the month-long celebration of "Liberty Amendments" to the U.S. Constitution, Vienna will host a naturalization ceremony at the Vienna Community Center on June 27.

Fifteen people will take the Oath of Allegiance to become U.S. citizens, the Town of Vienna said in a press release.

The festivities will also include live music, a presentation of the flag, congratulations from local and state officials, and an address by Vienna-area resident Ron Levy, the son of Jewish German refugees.

The ceremony is one of the main events of Liberty Amendments Month (June 13 - July 13), the town says. The month commemorates the legacy of the 13th, 14th, 15th and 19th Amendments to the U.S. Constitution, which granted citizenship, equality and voting rights to all Americans. This specific ceremony highlights the 14th Amendment, which addresses citizenship, due process, and equal protection under the law.

The festivities will begin at 3:30 p.m. at the Vienna Community Center located at 120 Cherry St., SE. The ceremony will take place at 5 p.m.
