Vienna Farmers Market (VFM)--This Saturday-- 6/22, check out Savage Fudge--Vendor of the Week
The Vienna Farmers Market which is located at 301 Center Street S. (the Faith Baptist Church parking lots) is operated and run by the Optimist Club of Greater Vienna. All of us are excited to be entering into the season of fresh fruit at the market (raspberries, blueberries, red currants, cherries will all be at the market this weekend)—but did you know that June is also National Candy Month?
Meet one of our vendors, Peggy Savage of Savage Fudge. She makes the most delicious goodies you could ever imagine. She started as a guest vendor at our market two years ago but but she quickly became a favorite and a not to be missed stop. She and partner Scott sell to die for fudge and lemon bread and last year added on milk chocolate and dark chocolate salted caramels along with hand pies. This year they've added on chocolate bull’s-eyes with quinoa center, cinnamon rolls and little breakfast pies/tarts—too delectable to describe (I usually miss out on them by arriving to late). And their inventive plans for this year haven’t stopped yet --they recently told me that they plan to add on home brewed soda pop and ice pops! Can you wait? I can't and you’ll see me hanging around her tent.
But since we are talking candy let’s go into detail about that fudge and the salted caramels. All I can say is yum. On a typical Saturday you’ll find a tasting tray of fudge and caramels for you to try. If I were you I’d go straight for the Midnight Fudge which has a hint of orange and the Hot Chocolate Fudge which has a secret kick to it. Both of those are a cut above and are for the sophisticated palates as is the Hazelnut Fudge and the Peppermint Fudge. The moral of this story of course is you cannot go wrong with any fudge selection. On a typical Saturday I’ll buy a package of fudge for friends and some milk chocolate salted caramels for my friend and Katrina’s dog walker Ciel. On a good Saturday, Farmer Dave will buy me Dark Chocolate Salted Caramels or my favorite--Hot Chocolate Fudge if he knows what’s good for him. Why you ask? Because Savage Fudge’s Hot Chocolate Fudge is the closest thing I’ve ever tasted to nirvana well except for the Dark Chocolate Salted Caramels.

Don’t make a trip to the market without stopping off at Savage Fudge and enjoying and purchasing some of these delectable treats. And be sure and watch out for the hand brewed soda and ice pops. This is a vendor that is true to the word--producer only (she uses fresh fruits from our vendors of course). And give a shout out to her other half Scott as well!
The Vienna Farmers Market now has more parking due to the courtesy and kindness of the Vienna Volunteer Fire Department which is now opening up their parking lot when they do not have a special event. So be sure and check out that parking lot when looking for a parking space when coming to the market between 8 am. - Noon. See you this weekend at the market and right here--next week Farmer SJ
