Vienna Halloween Parade: Route, Meeting Points

There's no better way to celebrate Halloween than the Vienna parade. We have the full details on this year's event.

VIENNA, VA—Vienna residents get to celebrate Halloween early this year. A week before trick-or-treat, the 72nd annual Vienna Halloween Parade will kick off Wednesday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m.

The parade starts on Maple Avenue at Branch Road SE and turns left on Center Street S for one block. Floats and marchers line up on Branch Road SE and Berry Street SE. Costumed kids marching in the parade will meet at United Bank, 374 Maple Avenue East at 6:30 p.m. No registration is required for these marchers.

Following the parade is a best of show ceremony determined by judges. Categories include best youth band, float with music, youth performer, antique/classic vehicle, adult band, float without music and adult performer. Parade winners will be recognized by Town Council in November.

  • Do not place any items on Maple Avenue prior to noon the day of the parade.
  • When placing items, do not put them in bus shelters as they need to be clear for bus users during the day. Items placed in bus shelters prior to 5 p.m. may be moved for the safety of bus users.
  • Keep items off sidewalks and benches so that pedestrians can walk and use the benches without having to move or walk over items.
  • Secure all items to ensure that weather conditions do not cause them to blow into the roadway or sidewalks.

Walking to the parade is recommended. If this is not an option, park at Vienna Community Center (120 Cherry Street SE) or Town Hall (127 Center St South, access through Cottage Street and the Vienna Shopping Center parking lot). Parking is also available on surrounding residential streets, but be aware of where road blocks will be.
