Vienna Man Dead After Shooting By Father At Shooting Range
Police have charged the father after the domestic-related shooting in Lorton on Nov. 11.
LORTON, VA — A Vienna man has been charged in a domestic-related shooting that led to the death of his son at a Lorton shooting range on Nov. 11.
Officers responded to the Sharpshooters Range at 8194M Terminal Road before 9 p.m. on Nov. 11. Two men were found with upper body gunshot wounds, and one had life-threatening injuries. Both were taken to the hospital, and Varun Srivastav, 23, of Vienna, died from his injuries at the hospital on Nov. 13.
On Monday, the medical examiner ruled the death a homicide following an autopsy. Detectives determined the father, Ajay Srivastav, 63, of Vienna, shot his son inside a car before shooting himself. Ajay Srivastav was treated for non-life-threatening injuries at the hospital and was released on Friday.

Ajay Srivastav was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and firearm use in the commission of a felony. Because Ajay was charged before his son's death, detectives expect charges will be amended.
Ajay is being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center. The investigation remains active as detectives continue to examine evidence and interview witnesses.
