Vienna Man's Lottery Win To Help Him Open Restaurant

A Vienna man plans to put his winnings toward a restaurant he is opening in the new year.

A man from Vienna is getting some help to open a restaurant with a lucky lottery win. The scratch ticket won the restaurateur $50,000, according to the Maryland Lottery.

The 43-year-old man, who wasn't publicly identified, told the Maryland Lottery he hopes to open his new restaurant in Gaithersburg, Md. in early 2019. He told lottery officials construction and permitting expenses for the restaurant have been increasing.

He plans to use the winnings for finishing touches on the restaurant. The restaurant will be based on Chinese fresh noodles.

The Vienna man was visiting a family member when he won the "$1,000,000 Blowout" scratch ticket. A relative picked up a ticket for him at Giant, 3530 Sugarloaf Parkway in Frederick, Md.

But he didn't scratch the ticket right away. His wife later found the ticket in his clothes before doing laundry.
