Vienna Oktoberfest Canceled Due To Ian Remnants Forecast
Safety concerns related to the weekend's weather forecast prompted the cancellation of Vienna Oktoberfest on Saturday.
VIENNA, VA — As Hurricane Ian's remnants begin to impact Virginia into the weekend, Vienna Oktoberfest has been canceled on Saturday.
The event would have been held Saturday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. along historic Church Street. The Town of Vienna announced the cancellation, citing safety concerns from the weather forecast.
Hurricane Ian is expected to make a second landfall Friday in South Carolina, according to the National Weather Service's Baltimore-Washington office. As it tracks northward, it will weaken and become a post-tropical system over the weekend.

Rain will begin in the greater DC region moving from south to north Friday afternoon or evening with light to moderate rainfall continuing through much of the night. Rainy conditions will linger through the weekend with the steadiest rainfall west of the Blue Ridge mountains, but forecasters expect conditions to remain stable.
The Vienna Oktoberfest event is not planned to be rescheduled. It would have offered beer, wine, multinational food, live entertainment, a car show, business expo, vendor market, artisans and free children's activities. Vienna Oktoberfest is a fundraiser for the Vienna Business Association Foundation, which contributes to many charities in the greater Vienna area.

Residents are invited to check out the town's next big event, the Vienna Halloween Parade on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m. along Maple Avenue.
