Vienna Photography Students Honor Fallen Soldier
Two Madison students used their photography talents to capture the story of a fallen soldier.
VIENNA, VA—Two Vienna photography students had meaningful learning experiences at Andrews Air Force Base last week.
James Madison High School senior Yarely and junior Jennifer were invited to participate in Taking Flight Together event to tell the story of a fallen soldier. The two students were assigned to create a visual story reflecting teamwork, leadership and service in the military.
The students met with pilots of the Thunderbird aircraft and receiving mentoring from experiencing photojournalists. The students learned how to best tell stories through photography and tips for using camera equipment.

The visit was coordinated by Images for Good, a group that connects volunteer photographers from schools with service organizations. Their work ensures students gain insightful training, while the community organizations receive photos to better tell their stories.
Vienna Mayor Laurie DiRocco also worked with students throughout the day, along with Tim Buckley, Madison's director of student services.
