Vienna Police Charge Man with Abduction, Sexual Battery
A look at recent crime in the Town of Vienna, from the Vienna Police Department report released Friday.

The following summary contains various incidents of general interest as well as vehicular crashes handled by the Town of Vienna, Virginia Police Department from April 10, 2015 – April 16, 2015. Readers are reminded that an “arrest” is based upon probable cause and does not always mean that someone was physically taken into custody. Furthermore, it does not mean that an individual is automatically guilty of a crime. Judicial outcomes and post-arrest proceedings can be researched through the appropriate court’s website.

Arrest – Abduction/Kidnapping/Sexual Battery/Simple Assault 15-003744 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE Between March 10 at 3:00 p.m. and April 06 at 3:00 p.m. An employee reported that between March 10 and April 06 another employee had forced her into a restroom, locked the door, prevented her from escaping and sexually assaulted her.
Officer Herrera responded to the scene and after speaking with the victim and the assailant, he determined there was enough evidence to arrest the 33 year old man, with no fixed address for Sexual Battery, Abduction with Intent to Defile, Kidnapping and Simple Assault.
The man was transported to the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center where he was charged and held without bond.
Bad Check 15-003702 Marco Polo Restaurant 245 Maple Avenue, West Between January 02 at 12:00 a.m. and April 04 at 1:55 p.m. An individual, who had provided entertainment services to the Marco Polo Restaurant, reported he had been paid by check. He stated that after depositing the check he discovered it had bounced. The individual contacted an employee of the restaurant in an attempt to correct the problem on several occasions to no avail.
This case is being investigated.
Fraud 15-003699 900 Block Park Street, SE March 31 12:00 p.m. A resident reported that when he attempted to electronically file his taxes through Turbo Tax he was informed someone had already filed a tax return in his name.
This case is being investigated.
Lost Property 15-003786 600 Block Hillcrest Drive, SW April 09 between 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. A resident reported that while on a walk she lost an envelope containing an undisclosed amount of money.
Medical Case 15-003690 Block Nelson Drive, NE April 10 8:23 a.m. An elderly resident reported a three year old child who had been in her care had gone missing. Officer Digan responded and spoke with the resident’s husband who informed him that his wife has been suffering from medical problems and occasionally becomes delusional.
He informed the officer there had not been a child in their care.
Arrest – Narcotics Violation 15-003693 Cottage Street at Patrick Street, SW April 10 10:24 a.m. Officer Herrera was on patrol when he observed the driver of a vehicle commit a series of traffic offenses. As a result of those offenses he conducted a traffic stop. Upon his interaction with the driver and occupant he detected the distinct odor of marijuana.
After further interaction he located a measurable amount of marijuana. Officer Herrera issued a summons to the 18 year old man from Reston, Virginia for Possession of Marijuana.
He was released after signing the summons.
Medical Case 15-003711 900 Block Moorefield Creek Road, SW April 10 6:07 p.m. MPO Vazquez responded after receiving a request from a citizen to check on the welfare of a friend. MPO Vazquez located the individual walking on Nutley Street, SW and upon making contact he discovered the individual was visibly upset and agitated.
At the request of the individual’s mother he was transported to an area hospital to be evaluated for his condition.
Animal Case 15-003718 500 Block Kingsley Road, SW April 10 10:24 p.m. A resident reported a fox had been roaming in the area and appeared to be sick. MPO Vazquez responded to the area and located the fox which was able to elude capture.
Tobacco/Alcohol Violation 15-003723/15-003777 100 Block Courthouse Road, SW April 10 10:45 p.m. MPO Shaw responded to the area to assist with the report of an accident with injuries and was informed several of the passengers in the striking vehicle had left the scene. Upon arrival he located three juvenile girls. After speaking with the girls he discovered they were in possession of tobacco and one of the girls had consumed alcohol.
The three girls were transported to the Vienna Police Station. The two girls who had been in possession of tobacco were released to their parents. The girl who had consumed alcohol was issued a summons for the Possession of Alcohol and released to her mother.
Arrest – Alcohol Violation 15-003730 100 Block Maple Avenue, West April 10 10:46 p.m. Officer Slebonick responded to the area for the report of an accident with injuries. Upon arriving he located the two vehicles involved. The driver of the striking vehicle had left the scene, however one of his passengers had stayed at the scene. The passenger stated there had been five individuals in the vehicle prior to the crash however; everyone but him left the scene prior to the arrival of the police.
Upon his interaction with the passenger Officer Slebonick determined he had consumed alcohol and was under the age of 21. The passenger contacted the driver of the vehicle and was able to persuade him to return to the scene. After speaking with the driver Officer Slebonick issued him a summons for Following Too Close and the passenger, a 20 year old man from Vienna was issued a summons for Underage Possession of Alcohol.
A passenger in the vehicle that had been struck was transported to an area hospital after complaining of an injury sustained in the crash.
Medical Case 15-003771 Whole Foods Market 143 Maple Avenue, East April 12 4:08 p.m. Officer Digan responded to the area after receiving the report of a possible domestic disturbance in progress. Upon arriving he located the family involved in the disturbance. The daughter informed him she did not want to go home but instead wanted to speak with her doctor.
The mother contacted the doctor who agreed to make arrangements to see the girl.
Officer Digan transported the girl to her doctor’s office.
Shoplifting 15-003773 Radio Shack 322 Maple Avenue, West April 12 4:42 p.m.
An employee reported a juvenile entered the store and picked up a Bluetooth Headphone and attempted to abscond with the item. The employee gave chase and was able to convince the juvenile to return to the store and await the arriving police officer.
Officer Herrera responded and spoke with the juvenile and then contacted his father to respond to take his son home.
This case is being investigated.
Found Property 15-003815 The Vienna Police Station 215 Center Street, South April 13 11:00 a.m.
A citizen responded to the Vienna Police Station to turn in a wallet that had been found in the area of Branch Road and Locust Street, SE.
Sgt. Farhan attempted to contact the owner of the wallet to no avail. A message was left for the owner and the wallet will be held at the police department until the owner can make arrangements to pick it up.
Suspicious Event 15-003795 Ware Street at Ridge Road, SW April 13 11:44 a.m. Officer Tracy was on patrol when he was flagged down by the driver of a vehicle. The passenger exited the vehicle and approached Officer Tracy and stated his girlfriend, the driver, was on the telephone with an individual who claimed to be holding her brother hostage. The caller stated her brother would be released if she paid an undisclosed amount of money.
Officer Tracy informed the woman this was a scam and she should call her brother to verify his safety. She telephoned her brother who informed her he was safe and in class at a local college.
The number of the caller had been blocked and was unable to be traced.
Found Property 15-003804 The Town Green 144 Maple Avenue, East April 13 1:19 p.m.
A Town of Vienna employee turned in a set of keys that were found at the Town Green.
The keys will be held at the Vienna Police Department until the owner can be identified.
Arrest – Drinking in Public 15-003818 200 Block Cedar Lane, SE April 13 9:18 p.m. Sgt. Sheeran was on patrol when he observed two men walking through the parking lot of the Cedar Lane Shopping Center and appeared to be drinking beer. Upon his interaction he determined that one of the men, a 42 year old from Vienna was attempting to conceal his beer by placing it in a plastic bag and drinking from a straw.
The man was issued a summons for Drinking in Public and released after signing the summons.
Trespassing 15-003828 Capital One Bank 246 Maple Avenue, East April 14 8:35 a.m.
MPO Seitz responded to the area for the report of a woman who had been sleeping in her vehicle. MPO Seitz spoke with the woman who stated she had lost her job and was sleeping in her vehicle as she had nowhere else to go.
An employee of the bank requested the woman be told she could not sleep in the parking lot. The woman was informed of the employee’s wishes and agreed to leave and not return.
Open Door 15-003830 300 Block Lewis Street, NW April 14 9:29 a.m. An alarm company reported a residential alarm had been activated. Officer Tracy responded and located a door that had been left unlocked. He along with Sgt. Farhan searched the residence and found nothing out of place.
A neighbor was contacted and reset the alarm and secured the door.
Fraud 15-003848 200 Block East Street, NE April 14 12:00 p.m. A resident reported she had received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service advising her of an investigation into her current tax filing.
The resident stated she had not yet filed her taxes and must have been the victim of a fraud.
This case is being investigated.
Domestic Dispute 15-003844 Tapawingo Road, SE April 14 11:46 p.m. A resident reported that her boyfriend had been involved in a heated argument with his son. The boyfriend had left the residence prior to the arrival of the police. PFC Kiley spoke with the son who stated the argument stemmed from an earlier altercation with his father in Fairfax County.
PFC Kiley informed the son he would need to contact the Fairfax County Police Department to report the earlier altercation, however, he declined.
Medical Case 15-003849 Spokes Etc. 224 Maple Avenue, East April 15 10:08 a.m. Officer Digan responded to the area for the report of a possibly intoxicated person behind the store. Upon arriving the individual was located lying in the dirt next to a dumpster. After awakening him Officer Digan determined he was intoxicated to the point of needing medical treatment.
Fairfax County Fire and Rescue personnel were summoned and transported the man to an area hospital for treatment of his condition.
